Business Desk Business Masters Awards 2021

Leading commercial heating and ventilation specialists Lord Combustion Services have shown their green credentials by being named as a finalist for a leading sustainability business award.

The Oldbury-based sector leading business is up for the Sustainability prize at the 2021 West Midlands Business Masters Awards, organised by regional news website Business Desk.

TheBusinessDesk.com launched the 2021 West Midlands Business Masters Awards to celebrate the companies in the region which have achieved outstanding results over the past 12 months. The winners will be revealed at TheBusinessDesk.com’s annual West Midlands dinner on November 11 at the Macdonald Burlington hotel in Birmingham.

The award recognition comes as Lord increases its sustainability drive, working with customers to help them make smart decisions on reducing their environmental footprint through selecting systems which make a difference.

With site owners reassessing usage following reduced occupation during successive lockdowns or adjusting to drops in footfall as hybrid working becomes more common, Lord have also used the opportunity of vacant or quiet buildings to carry out substantial work which increases sustainability.

The sustainability finalist placing is the latest awards success for Lord. Next month’s 2021 West Midlands Leadership Awards, also organised by Business Desk, see managing director Stuart Smith up for the company leader prize for businesses with up to 100 employees, while Greg Jones, who joined the board of directors in January, is in the running for the young leader award.

Operating since 1982, Lord Combustion Services serve more than 1000 customers each year, from landmark buildings such as Edgbaston cricket ground to numerous NHS sites, schools and other public buildings.

Despite the challenges of COVID-19 and accompanying lockdown restrictions the company, which is based in Dudley Road East, Oldbury, reported a successful year having supported clients in ensuring their sites met heating and safety requirements. They kept commercial hot water systems operating to ensure handwashing facilities remained available to continue the fight against COVID-19.

Managing director Stuart Smith said: “As a leading heating and hot water specialist, Lord Combustion Services recognises the positive impact we can make in reducing customers’ usage of fossil fuels, educating clients about the environmentally friendly options available and encouraging the use of equipment which reduces energy consumption and the impact on the planet.

“We ensure clients are given practical guidance on the long-term benefits of using more efficient equipment to reduce the impact on the environment. As we work with NHS sites, schools and other leading site owners to make smart decisions on reducing their environmental footprint, it is pleasing to be recognised for this prestigious sustainability award.”
