Commercial heating and ventilation specialist Lord Combustion Services has renewed its partnership with leading open air attraction Black Country Living Museum.
Award-winning Lord Combustion Services joined the Black Country Living Museum Partnership in summer 2023 to support the Dudley-based open air museum, which guides visitors through the history of one of the first industrialised landscapes in the UK.
Set across 26 acres, the museum features carefully reconstructed shops, houses and industrial areas that explore the Black Country’s story, encompassing engineering, steam power, human ingenuity and manufacturing.
The museum’s newest attractions include a 1940s-60s high street, which recreates people’s daily lives from the era, as well as wider societal changes, such as the impact of post-war prosperity, migration and “the rise of the teenager”.
Launched in 1982, the Lord team of nearly 50 staff serve customers across the West Midlands from their HQ in Dudley Road East, Oldbury.
Managing Director Stuart Smith said: “We have enjoyed supporting the Black Country Living Museum over the past year and are pleased to be able to renew our partnership.
“As an engineering business we recognise the importance of understanding our industrial history in shaping our region’s future.
“We are proud to be based in the Black Country and are committed to making a difference in our region by supporting local attractions such as the museum as well as community groups, charities and organisations.”
In recent months Lord has got behind a number of local good causes. Earlier this year the company became a corporate partner for Black Country mental health charity Kaleidoscope Plus Group, backing a campaign to address the stigma of suicide.
This year Lord also funded a new Toyota Yaris for West Midlands Air Ambulance so that the organisation can continue to receive blood products for its lifesaving service. In its first three months the blood delivery vehicle made more than 60 round trips from Strensham Airbase to the blood bank at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and three patients received lifesaving blood delivered by the car.
Lord has also helped a school academy trust raise more than £20,000 and funded 100 hot meals for elderly members of the community in Smethwick over the Christmas period.
Lord won the Outstanding Support for the Armed Forces prize at the 2023 Black Country Chamber of Commerce Business Awards for its work providing job opportunities for service personnel.
