LORD COMBUSTION SERVICES DUO NAMED AS FINALISTS IN PRESTIGIOUS BUSINESS AWARDS

The team at leading commercial heating specialists Lord Combustion Services are seeing double after two colleagues were named as finalists for leading regional business awards.

The 2021 West Midlands Leadership Awards, organised by regional news website Business Desk, see managing director Stuart Smith up for the company leader prize for businesses with up to 100 employees, while Greg Jones, who joined the board of directors in January, is in the running for the young leader award.

They hope to be carrying home two trophies when the winners are announced on July 9 in a ceremony at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham.

Organiser Business Desk West Midlands said: “The event brings togethers people from across the business community and is a great celebration of the achievements of the past year, which we look forward to sharing.”

Launched in 1982, Lord Combustion Services serve more than 1000 customers every year, including landmark buildings such as Edgbaston cricket ground, as well as numerous NHS sites, schools and other public buildings.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and accompanying lockdown restrictions put in place the company, which is based in Dudley Road East, Oldbury, reported a successful year having supported clients in ensuring their sites met heating and safety requirements.

They also kept commercial hot water systems operational to ensure handwashing facilities remained available to continue the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

Managing director Stuart Smith said: “After a year dominated by the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is fantastic to be named as finalists in these awards. Lord Combustion Services is very much a team effort so through these nominations we are delighted to represent everyone who has pulled together within the company over the last 12 months.”

After his recent appointment to the board, Greg Jones has taken responsibility for the company’s services and planned maintenance operations. His appointment came as he marks 10 years with the company, having joined as an apprentice in 2011.

Greg said: “I am proud to be named as a finalist in these awards. As a senior manager, you are only good as the team around you, and I am fortunate to work alongside people at all levels who go the extra distance for all our clients.”
