Award-winning Lord Combustion Services are experts in commercial heating, hot water and ventilation services, using the latest energy efficient control strategies and remote monitoring services to help clients save money year-round.
With managing energy bills high on every company’s agenda, Lord can help clients to control costs while ensuring they use their systems efficiently, reducing the impact on the environment.
Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham’s renowned Test venue, turned to its Oldbury-based commercial heating and hot water partner when it needed to introduce a new water system for all areas of the stadium’s £32 million South Stand. From an initial review of their requirements and the existing installation, Lord implemented a new hot water generating system.
At a secondary school in Ascot, Berkshire, the existing boilers within both of the plant rooms were low efficiency oil fired units before Lord installed a new natural gas service to the replacement boiler plant.
Within a wider project, the electrical services within the plant room were replaced and a new control system installed with energy-efficient software strategies and facility for remote monitoring and adjustment of settings.
In 2022, we made the West Midlands Net Zero Business Pledge to reduce our environmental impact during a visit by West Midlands Mayor Andy Street.
Overseen by regional champion Sustainability West Midlands on behalf of the West Midlands Combined Authority, the Net Zero Business Pledge is undertaken by businesses wanting to be part of the region’s drive to ”lead the green revolution and become a net zero carbon economy by 2041”.
We recommend a review because:
- It can help to identify and fix problems early on. This can prevent costly repairs and downtime.
- It can optimise energy usage. By monitoring use, businesses can identify areas to reduce consumption and save money.
- It can help to improve comfort levels for building occupants, employees and customers. A comfortable temperature can improve productivity and satisfaction, while healthcare centres, schools and care homes can ensure site users are comfortable.
- It can help to reduce environmental impact. By using less energy, businesses can help to reduce their carbon footprint.
- It can help to improve safety. By monitoring gas and water levels, businesses can identify potential hazards and prevent accidents.
Lord was recognised for its achievements in reducing clients’ environmental impact by winning the sustainability trophy at the West Midlands Business Masters Awards, organised by news website Business Desk in 2021.
Here are some specific examples of how remote monitoring has helped businesses save money and improve their operations:
- A Lord customer (sheltered housing association) improved the service to its clients, by notification of issues with equipment as soon as they occur and also reducing its energy use by 15% by monitoring its heating and cooling systems and implementing energy efficient control strategies, preventing overheating and improving resident comfort.
- A Lord client school was able to reduce its energy use by 20% by monitoring its heating and hot water systems, adjusting time schedules and building temperatures to match school occupancy times, reducing temperatures during holiday times, weekends and evenings. Ensuring that any exceptions to normal schedules such as parents evenings or functions are accurately controlled.
- A medical centre was able to improve water quality safety by monitoring the temperature of its domestic hot water system, including the temperature of stored hot water, DHW flow / return temperatures and reheat times during periods of peak demand.
Remote monitoring and control is a valuable tool that can help businesses save money and improve their operations.
It is obvious that if equipment is switched off when not required then the energy saving is 100%.
Lord are committed to reducing both the carbon footprint of our own operations and those of our customers.
